  1. A car’s price should be reasonable with respect to the market value; if the price is too cheap then you should be suspicious. Always have a valuation check in hand to compare the car’s actual price according to the current market price.

  2. Always ask to view the car in person, avoid photos and try to meet the owner if possible, since sincere sellers will be definitely meet you.

  3. If you want, you can trace the car’s images to another site using Google’s reverse image functionality to find out the source of the picture.

  4. Google it! try and find your seller’s contact information via Google. Usually reputed car sellers have a good website and online reputation. It will reveal if there are any other cars for sale posted by that seller.

  5. Check if the car has any outstanding finance or not, since most dealers tend to sell the car unknowingly or knowingly, this only leads to more baggage in terms of the used car purchase. It is financially draining.

  6. Always send money via banker’s draft or through transaction that can be traced. Most second hand deals are done in cash and are harder to trace if there is no receipt as well. So at least get a receipt of the cash handed over.
